The Promise Ring. Omtown 1997

This is such a joyous album. A celebration of life, a celebration of love, in this case the love of Jon  for his lovely wife, Jane Luttenberger Anderson. Listen to the music, you hear that joy, that love, the celebration of all that is wonderful, and goodness knows, these days, we do need some joy in our lives. This album was released in 1997, and can be quite hard to find in record shops, we here at albionchronicles found our copy in, of all places, a toyshop. the owner had and still has a small, but good, selection of mainly folk CDs sitting by the cash register, and it was there we found The Promise Ring. One of the shop helpers was kind enough to allow us to hear all of the album, and from the very first note on the opening track, Born To Dance, we were hooked, the smiles from a few of the other customers in the shop confirmed, if we needed confirmation, that this was and is truly a wonderful and joyous album. Find it, and buy it, take it home and dance to it, sing along if you want, I know we did.

My Sweet Jane

Bring the glory, my sweet Jane
Down from heaven, down the lane
Sing the glory of her name
Singing, true li ay...

Spin the circle, make a chain
Dance the glory, my sweet Jane
Bring the sunshine every day
Dancing, true li ay...

For all to know the world's alive
At last the vision has survived
We see the future children sing
The glory of the world

As one together, pull together
One together we will be
Now the music is the power
Bringing love forever

The road ahead, the road ahead
The road ahead, can take us anywhere

Bring the glory, my sweet Jane
Down from heaven, down the lane
Sing the glory of her name
Singing, true li ay...

She takes me to a sacred place
Every time she kisses me
The light of love is on her face
Loving, true I ay...

We fly up to heaven on a wing
Listening for the birds to sing
We hear the angels on their wing
Every time we're Iovin'

For all to know the world's alive
At last the vision has survived
We see the future children sing
The glory of the world

Bring the glory, my sweet Jane
Down from heaven, down the lane
Sing the glory of her name
Singing, true li ay...

The road ahead, the road ahead
The road ahead, can take us anywhere

I met her when my heart was low
She taught me how to love again
I watch her when he greets the day
I love her, true li ay...

A world of love is in her eyes
When she dances close to me
No one could ever take the prize
I love her, true li ay...

So deep inside my senses roar
When I hold her in my arms
I wake up to her every morn
Sunshine all the time

For all to know the world's alive
At last the vision has survived
We see the future children sing
The glory of the world

As one together, pull together
One together we will be
Now the music is the power
Bringing love forever

The road ahead, the road ahead
The road ahead, can take us anywhere

A world of love is in her eyes
When she dances close to me
No one could ever take the prize
I love her, true li ay...
